Lossburg. At the Plastec West 2013, which
will take place from 12 to 14 February 2013 in Anaheim, CA, Arburg will present
an efficient injection molding solution that meets the highest clean room
requirements. At the Arburg booth 3959 in hall B, the fully-electric Allrounder
520 A features, for example, a completely encapsulated stainless steel clamping
unit that can be cleaned particularly quickly and effectively. Equipped with a
32-cavity mold, this exhibition machine produces 2 ml syringe barrels in 6.5
seconds. Thanks to the short cycle time and the energy efficiency of the
electric drives, the exhibit is characterized by a high level of production
efficiency.
For medical applications, Arburg offers clean
room solutions tailored in detail to specific requirements. The modular product
range covers hydraulic, hybrid and electric Allrounders with a clamping force
range from 125 to 5,000 kN (14 to 550 tons), for which customized equipment
packages are available. Moreover, a variety of clean room concepts can be
implemented. These range from machines and complete production cells that can
be docked to a clean room, through to Allrounders that operate entirely within
a clean room.

Unique
stainless steel solution

In order to meet the highest hygiene
requirements in accordance with ISO 13485, as well as the specifications of the
FDA and the GMP directives, Arburg is unique among injection molding machine
manufacturers in offering machines with an encapsulated stainless steel
clamping unit. The stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned much faster and are
insensitive even to the aggressive agents commonly used during sterilization. Moreover,
the raised machine base, which is covered on the injection side, as well as the
nickel-coated mounting platens with covered bores are advantageous in terms of
cleaning. The resulting reduction in downtimes also ensures greater efficiency
in production.
A clean-room module with air ionization above
the machine’s clamping unit ensures that the air in the work area is kept as
free of particles as possible. The module generates a high level of air circulation
via a pre-filter and HEPA filter, as well as neutralizing electrically charged
molded parts. Liquid-cooled drives and control cabinets are standard at Arburg
and also aid low-emission production.
Furthermore, only FDA/NSF H1-compliant
lubricants are used. Accordingly, the Allrounders meet the clean room
requirements of ISO classes 5 to 7.
 
Efficient
clean room production

 
Arburg will present a
solution of this kind at the
Plastec West 2013.The electric Allrounder 520 A features a clamping force of
1,500 kN (165 tons) and operates with a size 400 (8.2 oz) injection unit.
The exhibition machine is equipped with a 32-cavity mold from
Schöttli and produces 2 ml syringe barrels in a cycle time of 6.5 seconds.
